Why are medals mounted:
The term mounting refers to putting medals together on a bar so that they can be worn. Medals can also be mounted to hang in a frame should you wish to be able to remove the medals from a frame.
The Order That Medals Should Be Mounted In:
Medals are mounted in a strict order determined first by the type of medal and secondly for campaign medals, by when they were awarded. When sending medals to be mounted, we will need to know in which order your medals were awarded. PLEASE NOTE that this applies to modern campaigns only. WW1 & WW2 medals have their own determined order that we will sort for you.

Court Mounting:
Full Size medal mounting service 'Court' Style. Medals that you purchase or send to us will be mounted on a stiff backing and stitched down to prevent them rubbing together. Court Mounting originates from the reign of Queen Victoria. Serving members of Her Majesty's Armed Forces in her attendance (in 'Court') were requested to ensure medals were sewn onto a backing board to prevent them from moving around and making a noise. Court Mounting has been widely adopted by todays Award Forces. Whilst a more expensive form of mounting medals ready-to-wear, Court Mounting provides a more secure and longer lasting finish protecting medals from rubbing or bashing against each other.

Swing Mounting:
Full Size medal mounting service 'Swing' Style. Medals that you purchase or send to us will be mounted together on a pin. The term 'Swing Mount' refers to the fact that the medals will swing freely when being worn. This style of mounting is traditionally but no exclusively used for WW1 & WW2 medals.

Naming/Engraving:
If your medals require naming (engraving) with your details, this can be added at a cost of £12 per medal. Engraving can be found on our website here.
